What a sharp contrast to 2008, when Wichita experienced it's wettest year on record, that 2009 would start with the 9th driest January ever!

When 2008 handed off the baton to 2009, little doubt one "message" it would have passed onto it's successor would've been, "I've just set the record for greatest annual rainfall in Wichita! Don't break it!"

So far, 2009 is following instructions carefully, for in January, the Air Capital measured a scant 0.08 inch of water equivalent precipitation. This enabled 2009 to tie 1903 for the 9th driest January on record. However, 1.6 inches of snow were measured, preventing 2009 from gaining admission into the "Top 10" Fraternity for least January snowfall.
