June 2010 Breaks into the Top 10 Warmest Junes (7/7/2010)

June 2010 Sizzles into the Top 10 Warmest Junes

 
June 2010 will go down as one of the warmest June's on record for Wichita, Russell, Salina, and Chanute. Interesting to note, maximum temperature records where only broken once, however warmest low records were broken several times. In fact, many areas experienced lows in the mid to upper 70s, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. This often resulted in calendar day averages in the mid 80s, which is 7 or 8 degrees above normal. It was not until the last few days of June where temperatures started to return back to normal. It will be interesting to see if this warm pattern will continue into July. 

Wichita

12th 75 F broke the warmest low 74 F in 1990
13th 2.94" broke the max rainfall 2.64" in 2000

 


In Wichita, the average monthly temperature was 80.7 degrees. This makes June 2010 the 7th warmest June on record. In fact, June 2010 only tied or reached below normal three times. 
  
Russell

26th 75 F broke the warmest low 74 F in 1991
 


 In Russell, the average monthly temperature was 78.1 degrees. This makes June 2010 the 10th warmest June on record. In fact, June 2010 only tied or reached below normal nine times. 
 

Salina

 2.15" broke the max precipitaiton 1.84" in 1949

  


In Salina, the average monthly temperature was 79.6 degrees. This makes June 2010 the 10th warmest June on record. Interesting to note, Salina did not break any temperature records. Salina only tied or reached below normal five times in the month of June.  

 

Chanute

22nd 77 F tied the warmest low 77 F in 2009
 


Chanute's average monthly temperature for June 2010 was 78.9 degrees. This ranks 9th for the warmest June on record for Chanute. In fact, June 2010 only tied or dropped below average 4 times.
