A fast moving Alberta Clipper brought snow to central and southeast Illinois Sunday afternoon and evening.  Visible satellite imagery on Monday morning clearly showed the swath of snow (left image, area within the dark blue lines).  The image at right shows the 24-hour snowfall as reported by official cooperative observers.

The swath of snow was only about 100 miles from north to south.  The heaviest snow bands were in a narrow corridor from Macomb, southeast through Springfield to near Lawrenceville, where totals of 2 to 2.5 inches were common with locally higher amounts.  Amounts near 4 inches were reported near the Indiana border around Robinson and Lawrenceville.  In the table below, amounts were provided by cooperative observers, CoCoRaHS observers, and Significant Weather Observation Program (SWOP) observers.
