Daily Weather Story Summary:

Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this morning as a minor disturbance moves across northwest Illinois. Then mostly sunny skies are expected the rest of the day with breezy southerly winds bringing very warm temperatures into the area. A cold front developing in the plains will approach the area and bring showers and thunderstorms to the region beginning as early as Thursday afternoon, mainly northwest of I-55. These showers and thunderstorms will spread across the area for Thursday night. As the cold front moves through the area late Thursday night into Friday, showers and thunderstorms will continue through Friday into Friday night. Some of these storms could be severe Friday afternoon and Friday night, in the eastern and southeastern parts of the state. Thunderstorms will continue to be possible on Saturday, mainly along and south of I-70 as the front slowly exits the area. Normal temperatures and periodic chances for thunderstorms will continue through the weekend and into the beginning of next week.
