Dick and Ann Abel 10 Years of Service Award

Dick and Ann Abel, cooperative weather observers in Kokomo Indiana, were presented their 10 Year Length of Service Award by Roger Kenyon, Hydro-meteorological Technician at Indianapolis, on July 12th, 2001. The Abel’s volunteered to take daily weather observations in June of 1991 and have an excellent track record for the ten year period. Observations are taken at their home on the west side of Kokomo.

The Abel’s record daily maximum/minimum temperature and precipitation from official NWS equipment. Other weather parameters are also noted including snowfall, snow depth, water equivalent of snow, fog, thunderstorms and hail when observations are recorded.

Various offices in Howard county obtain weather data from the Abel’s on a recurring basis.
