Mildred Burns - 10 Years of Service Award

Mrs. Mildred Burns of Montezuma Indiana received her 10 year length of service award from Ed Terrell, HMT Indianapolis IN.

With 10 years of service, Mrs. Burns is carrying on a Family tradition that spans over a half century. She volunteered to take over the weather observing duties when her husband, Mr. Robert Burns passed away in 1991. Robert had served as Cooperative Weather Observer for 36 years and was the recipient of the prestigious John Campanius Holm Award for outstanding achievement in meteorological observations. Robert had inherited the weather observing position in 1955 from his father the late Joseph Burns, who started the Burns’s Montezuma weather observing tradition in 1949.
