On This Date in Central Indiana Weather History......

1988 : An ice storm in the central part of the state left up to 2 inches of ice accumulation.

1880 : Indianapolis...A tornado struck the north side of the city, killing one boy who sought shelter in an icehouse. A church was demolished, many houses uprooted, and chimneys blown down. The tornados rumble was said to sound like an approaching train.
