                                 FEBRUARY.

01. 1982  RAPID SNOW MELT RESULTED IN ICE JAMS ALONG THE WABASH RIVER
      BETWEEN LAFAYETTE AND TERRE HAUTE.

02. 1996  BITTERLY COLD TEMPERATURES CONTINUED FROM THE 2ND TO THE 5TH
      WITH LOW TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 0 AND 15 BELOW ZERO EACH DAY.

03. 1995  A STORM SYSTEM BRINGS WIDESPREAD 2 TO 4 INCH SNOWFALL.
      MARTINSVILLE RECEIVES 6 INCHES.

04. 1976  AN ICE STORM STRIKES CENTRAL INDIANA ON THE 4TH AND 5TH
      DEPOSITING UP TO AN INCH OF ICE ON TREES AND POWER LINES. MANY
      TREES WERE DAMAGED OR KNOCKED DOWN BY THE ICE.

05. 2008  NEAR GREENSBURG...A MICROBURST CAUSES OVER A QUARTER MILLION
      DOLLARS IN DAMAGE.

06. 1977  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE IS
      SET AT -12 DEGREES.

07. 1925  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE 
      IS SET AT 66 DEGREES.

08. 1977  INDIANAPOLIS...THE LOW TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO -4.  THIS WAS
      THE 23RD TIME IN THE WINTER OF 1976-1977 THAT THE TEMPERATURE
      DROPPED BELOW ZERO...WHICH IS A RECORD NUMBER OF TIMES FOR
      THE CITY.

08. 1987  A WINTER STORM BROUGHT 50 TO 60 MPH WINDS TO THE NORTH AND
      CENTRAL PARTS OF THE STATE.

09. 1870  THE UNITED STATES WEATHER BUREAU WAS ESTABLISHED. THE 
      BUREAU WAS THE FORERUNNER OF THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

10. 1871  INDIANAPOLIS...ON THE FIRST DAY OF OFFICIAL WEATHER
      BUREAU RECORDS IN INDIANAPOLIS...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE
      IS 28...WITH NO PRECIPITATION.  LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS
      DID NOT BEGIN UNTIL MARCH 1 1871.

11. 1985  HEAVY SNOW FELL ACROSS NEARLY ALL OF INDIANA ON THE
      10TH AND 11TH...INCLUDING 7.0 INCHES IN INDIANAPOLIS.

12. 1981  INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD HIGHEST SEA-LEVEL PRESSURE IS
      SET FOR THE CITY AS 30.97 INCHES.

13. 1899  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE 
      DATE IS SET AT -17 DEGREES.

14. 2007  A SNOW STORM BROUGHT BLIZZARD CONDITIONS TO MUCH OF 
       NORTH CENTRAL INDIANA FROM THE 12TH TO THE 14TH. 
       LAFAYETTE RECEIVED 17 INCHES OF SNOW.

15. 1993  UP TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW FELL IN A STORM THAT AFFECTED
      ALL THE BUT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE STATE.

16. 2006  TERRE HAUTE...A TORNADO STRIKES THE HULMAN FIELD AIRPORT
      DAMAGING SEVERAL BUILDINGS.

17. 1910  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD SNOW DEPTH FOR THE DATE IS
      SET AT 16 INCHES.

18. 1871  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD PRECIPITATION AMOUNT FOR
      THE DATE IS SET AT 1.58 INCHES

19. 1981  NORTH OF LINTON...THUNDERSTORM WINDS BLOW A HOUSE OFF ITS
      FOUNDATION AS WELL AS DESTROY A GARAGE.

20. 1882  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD PRECIPITATION AMOUNT FOR
     THE DATE IS SET AT 3.02 INCHES.

21. 1980  3 INCH DIAMETER HAIL FALLS IN CRAWFORDSVILLE.

22. 1971  GREENSBURG AREA...A TORNADO CAUSES DAMAGE ALONG AN 
      INTERMITTENT PATH OF 10 MILES...INCLUDING OVERTURNING AN
      AIRPLANE AT THE GREENSBURG AIRPORT.

23. 1779  A COOL CLEAR MORNING FROZE STILL WATERS ALONG THE
      WABASH RIVER JUST SOUTH OF VINCENNES.  THE ICE WAS 0.50 TO
      0.75 INCH THICK.  THE ARMY UNDER GEORGE ROGERS CLARK
      MARCHED SIX MILES NORTH ALONG THE FLOODED WABASH...AT TIMES
      THROUGH THE ICY WATERS...TO RETAKE VINCENNES FROM THE
      BRITISH SHORTLY AFTER SUNSET.

24. 1986  ON THE 23RD-24TH...A SNOW STORM BRINGS 6 TO 7 INCHES OF 
      SNOW TO PARKE COUNTY...WITH 4 TO 5 INCHES ACROSS OTHER PARTS
      OF WEST CENTRAL INDIANA.

25. 1965  INDIANAPOLIS...A SNOWSTORM BRINGS 12.5 INCHES TO THE 
      CITY ON THE 24-25TH.

26. 1963  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE IS
      SET AT -6 DEGREES.

27. 1984  A SNOWSTORM BLANKETS CENTRAL INDIANA WITH 8 TO 14 INCHES OF
      SNOW FROM THE 27TH TO THE 29TH. INTERSTATE 65 BETWEEN INDIANAPOLIS
      AND CHICAGO WAS CLOSED FOR SEVERAL DAYS.

28. 1982  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE SNOWIEST WINTER /DECEMBER-FEBRUARY/
      ON RECORD FOR THE CITY ENDS...WITH A TOTAL OF 51.0 INCHES OF SNOW.

29. 1932  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE LEAST SNOWIEST WINTER /DECEMBER-
      FEBRUARY/ ON RECORD FOR THE CITY ENDS...WITH A TOTAL OF 
      ONLY 0.2 INCHES OF SNOW.
