01.  1864  INDIANAPOLIS...A BITTER COLD DAY GREETS THE NEW YEAR
      WITH A LOW TEMPERATURE OF -20...AND A HIGH OF ONLY -12.

02.  1887  LAFAYETTE...THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED FOR THE
      STATE IN THE 19TH CENTURY IS SET AT -33.

03.  1996  SNOWFALLS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES BLANKETED ALL BUT NORTHWEST
      INDIANA ON THE 2ND TO 3RD.

04.  1991  NOBLESVILLE...COLD WEATHER FREEZES FLOOD WATERS LEAVING
      ICE UP TO 6 INCHES THICK.

05.  2005  MUNCIE...AN ICE STORM LEAVES MOST OF THE CITY WITHOUT POWER.
       PARTS OF THE CITY DID NOT HAVE POWER FOR DAYS.

06.  2008  INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE IS 
       SET AT 63 DEGREES.

07.  1996  SNOWFALLS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES OCCURRED IN CENTRAL INDIANA
       FROM THE 6-8TH.  DRIFTS REPORTED UP TO 10 FEET CLOSED MANY
       ROADS.

08.  2008  CARROLL COUNTY...FLOODING CAUSES MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN 
      DAMAGES. HUNDREDS OF HOMES WERE DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.

09.  1987  A SNOWSTORM LEAVES 4 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW ACROSS CENTRAL 
      INDIANA

10. 1993  AROUND 5 INCHES OF SNOW FALL AT LAFAYETTE AND TERRE HAUTE.
      A WINTRY MIX FALLS EAST OF THESE AREAS.

11. 1975  STRONG WINDS BEHIND A COLD FRONT DOWN HUNDREDS OF TREES
      ACROSS INDIANA AND ROLL SEVERAL MOBILE HOMES.

12. 1916  INDIANAPOLIS...AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT MOVED THROUGH...
      TAKING THE TEMPERATURE FROM A HIGH OF 68 DOWN TO A LOW
      OF 10.  THIS MARKS THE GREATEST SINGLE DAY TEMPERATURE
      CHANGE...58 DEGREES...IN THE CITYS RECORDS.  THE
      TEMPERATURE KEPT DROPPING THE NEXT DAY...RECORDING A HIGH
      OF 10 AND A LOW OF -1.

13. 1976  A TORNADO DAMAGES HOMES AND OUTBUILDINGS NEAR SEYMOUR.
      AN ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION TOWER IS BLOWN DOWN AS WELL
      WHICH CAUSED 3 MORE TOWERS TO FALL.

14. 1992  FOUR TO SIX INCHES OF SNOW FALL ACROSS CENTRAL INDIANA.
      WIND GUSTS UP TO 40 MPH CAUSE 3 FOOT DRIFTS ACROSS HOWARD
      COUNTY.

15. 1997  FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...AND SNOW MOVE ACROSS THE AREA.
      MANY PLACES SEE 3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW BY THE TIME THE STORM
      ENDS ON THE 16TH. WINDS BROUGHT WHITE OUT CONDITIONS ON THE 
      16TH.

16. 1965  ACROSS PARTS OF CENTRAL INDIANA ON THE 15TH AND 16TH
      12 INCHES OF SNOW DRIFTED BADLY IN HIGH WINDS. 

17. 1994  A MAJOR WINTER STORM BROUGHT HEAVY SNOW TO CENTRAL AND
      SOUTHERN INDIANA ON THE 16-17TH.  

17. 2005  THE WABASH RIVER CRESTED AT 29.4 FEET NEAR 1100 PM...JUST
      PRIOR TO THE ISLAND CREEK LEVEE FAILURE IN SULLIVAN COUNTY.
      MORE THAN 5000 ACRES OF FARMLAND WERE COVERED BY WATER 7 TO
      8 FEET DEEP.

18. 1996  NEWPORT...GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL FALLS.

19. 1994  NEW WHITELAND...THE ALL TIME STATE RECORD LOW IS SET AT
      -36 DEGREES.

20. 1985  BITTER COLD AIR MOVES INTO CENTRAL INDIANA...CAUSING PIPES
      TO FREEZE AND BURST. THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO -22 AT INDIANAPOLIS.

21. 1983  AN ICE STORM PRODUCES ONE QUARTER TO ONE HALF INCH ICE 
      ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF CENTRAL INDIANA.

22. 1999  ESTIMATED 70 MPH THUNDERSTORM WINDS RIPPED THE ROOFS OFF AN
      AGRICULTURAL BUILDING JUST WEST OF NEWBERRY IN GREENE COUNTY.

23. 1936  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE IS 
      SET AT -18 DEGREES.

24. 1965  A TORNADO DAMAGES SEVERAL HOUSES AND OVERTURNS A MOBILE HOME
      IN NEW MARKET.

25. 1990  WIDESPREAD STRONG WINDS CAUSE DAMAGE TO BILLBOARDS...ROOFS AND
      OTHER UNSECURED ITEMS. PEAK WINDS OF OVER 60 MPH WERE RECORDED IN
      MARTINSVILLE AND KOKOMO.

26. 1978  THE WORST BLIZZARD ON RECORD HIT INDIANA ON THE
      25-27TH.  UP TO 20 INCHES OF SNOW FELL IN THE CENTRAL AND
      SOUTH...WITH 40 INCHES IN THE NORTH.  WIND GUSTS TO 55 MPH
      CAUSED 10 TO 20 FOOT DRIFTS AND WIND CHILLS AS LOW AS 
	  -50 /OLD WIND CHILL SCALE/.
      A FEDERAL STATE OF EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED.

27. 1982  AT POINTS DURING THE 23RD TO THE 31ST OF JANUARY...SOME
      ROOFS COLLAPSED IN INDIANAPOLIS AND MUNCIE DUE TO THE WEIGHT
      OF SNOW.

28. 2009  A SNOW STORM BRINGS SIGNIFICANT SNOW TO MUCH OF CENTRAL 
      INDIANA. SNOWFALL IN THE INDIANAPOLIS AREA EXCEEDED 12 INCHES.

29. 2008  SPEEDWAY...AN EF-1 RATED TORNADO STRIKES. IN AVON...STRAIGHT
      LINE WINDS OF AN ESTIMATED 100 MPH OCCUR.

30. 1966  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE DATE IS 
      SET AT -11 DEGREES.

31. 1982  AT INDIANAPOLIS...THE RECORD SNOWFALL FOR THE DATE IS SET 
      AT 7.2 INCHES.
