On this day in weather history...

1930 -- Fort Wayne had its warmest April low temperature of 70°.

1996 -- Thunderstorm winds did extensive damage across Jay County, Indiana, including blowing over a 100-foot tall radio tower. A barn was destroyed and several houses damaged.

2000 -- Hail 1.75" in diameter was recorded at Brookston (White County) and Wolf Lake (Noble County). Thunderstorm winds downed trees, power lines and damaged roofs in Jay County and Putnam County. School's Creek in Holgate (Henry County) left its banks and precipitated the evacuation of 24 homes.

2003 -- 63 mph thunderstorm wind gusts blew down many power lines and trees in and around Lima, and damaged a roof at Lima High School. 63 mph gusts were also reported in Putnam County with many trees and power lines blown down. 60 mph thunderstorm winds at Goshen. 58mph winds removed the roof from a horse barn five miles northeast of Napoleon.
