1856 -- A severe storm destroyed the Wabash River bridge at Lagro.
1992 -- At 1:30pm one of the longest tornado outbreaks in American history began over the southeast United States. The outbreak would not end until 7:30am on the 23rd. Six F3 tornadoes touched down in Indiana. One of the F3 twisters moved through northeast Indianapolis damaging or destroying 200 homes. The deadliest tornado of 1992, and F4, killed a dozen people in Mississippi -- one of the bodies was blown a quarter mile into a tree.
2000 -- A foot of lake effect snow fell on South Bend...11 inches at Dowagiac (Cass County Michigan), 10 inches at Niles (Berrien County) and New Carlisle (Saint Joseph County Indiana), and 9 inches at Benton Harbor (Berrien County) and Three Rivers (Saint Joseph County Michigan).
