On this day in weather history...

1980 -- An F3 tornado hit the northeast side of Elkhart. Near-F4 damage was done in the Young American subdivision.

1998 -- Flooding in Adams, Grant, Blackford, and Jay counties.

2003 -- Flash flooding was widespread, especially along and south of US 30. A trailer park was evacuated along US 31 in Peru. Twenty-seven residences were damaged in Wabash County. A mobile home community was evacuated in Warren (Huntington County) and roads and culverts were washed out. Evacuations were also necessary in Pipe Creek Falls in Cass County Indiana. A trailer park was evacuated and roads were closed around Bunker Hill (Miami County). Fifty homes were damaged along Deer Creek near Galveston in Cass County. Over 200 homes received damage from flooding in Miami County. The intersection of 250W and 500N three miles east of Redkey (Jay County) was washed away, and 60 homes had water damage.
