Madison, Indiana
April 3, 1974
From Doug Duell:
I was about 9 when this happened and my family
had boats at Madison Marina in Madison IN. All the boats were in storage
for the winter and people were just starting to get them ready to be put
in the water for the summer boating season. The tornadoes went through
Madison and hit the storage barns and the docks on the river. These docks
were steel, covered slips anywhere from 30 to, I think, 80 feet in length.
They were also arranged so that there were two slips across from each
other. I guess what I'm trying to say is that theses things are HEAVY.
When the tornado hit them it picked up what looked to be about 20 of these
docks, flipped them upside down and set them back down almost exactly
where they were.
