1925 -- A hailstorm did immense damage in Iowa, leaving cornfields barren. Some of the stones were disk-shaped, four inches across and two inches thick. Destruction was so complete that many tenant farmers abandoned their farms and sought other employment. (Flora, Hailstorms of the United States, 1956)

2001 -- Thunderstorm winds blew utility poles over onto IN 13 one mile south of Urbana (Wabash County), blocking traffic for two hours. 69 mph winds in Huntington and Decatur. Quality Glass in Decatur at Twelfth Street and Nuttman Avenue lost part of its roof, which was blown across Twelfth Street into a parked car and two yards. Hail 1.75" fell in diameter in Buffalo (White County).
