On Dec 6 in weather history...

1998 -- One of the worst cold season Derechoes ever recorded to hit northern Indiana and northwest Ohio -- Strong storms damaged a house in Elkhart, blew down trees and power lines in Markle, and spread 70 to 100 mph winds throughout northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. 82 mph winds were measured at Grissom Air Reserve Base, where the roof was ripped off the UAP/Richter warehouse. Strong winds caused part of the third story of the Total Discount Store in Logansport to collapse. The southwest corner of the building fell onto Hap's Downtowner next door. A home lost its roof in Paulding. Widespread damage to trees and powerlines were reported in many counties.

2008 -- A potent clipper system tracked through the region, bringing between 3 and 7 inches of snow accumulation to far northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
