1972 -- In Indiana, Berne dropped to -20°...Portland to -21°.

1997 -- Freezing rain, sleet, and snow spread across the area on the 15th, with 3" to 5" of snow falling by the 16th. Strong winds then rushed in with wind chills of 30 below zero and white-out conditions in blowing snow. Heavy lake effect snow showers occurred as well.

2009 -- A massive arctic high dropped into the eastern United States...bringing the coldest temperatures seen in over a decade. In Indiana, Knox...Culver and Angola dropped to Berne dropped to -26° South Bend and Fort Wayne fell to -19°.
