1972 -- In Indiana, Berne dropped to -20°...Portland to -21°.

1997 -- Freezing rain, sleet, and snow spread across the area on the 15th, with 3 to 5 inches of snow falling by the 16th. Strong winds then rushed in with wind chills of 30 below zero and white-out conditions in blowing snow. Heavy lake effect snow showers occurred as well.

2009 -- A massive arctic high dropped into the eastern United States...bringing the coldest temperatures seen in over a decade. In Indiana, Knox...Culver and Angola dropped to Berne dropped to -26° South Bend and Fort Wayne fell to -19°.
