1987 -- Up to nine inches of lake effect snow fell on northwest Indiana with wind chills to -40°.

1999 -- An automobile carrying a mother and her 9-year-old son was swept into Grassy Fork Creek in southwest Grant County. Both occupants of the car drowned.
