1939 -- Weather observing began at Smith Field in Fort Wayne.

1996 -- Fort Wayne's wettest July day, with 2.83" of rain. 7" of rain fell in 12 hours in Huntington, producing devastating flash flooding. 370 homes were damaged. damage in Huntington was estimated at $6 million. It was Huntington County's worst flood since 1913.

1997 -- Lakeville, Indiana reported 70 mph winds in a thunderstorm. A downburst on the east side of Dixon, Ohio created winds to 92 mph that did some structural and tree damage. Golf ball sized hail then fell on Van Wert.
