1903 -- A tornado killed 98 people and injured 180 others at Gainesville, Georgia. The tornado struck at shift change time at a large cotton mill, where most of the casualties were.

1927 -- The Wabash River at Terre Haute, Indiana crested 4 feet above flood stage.

1934 -- Albion, Goshen, and Warsaw, Indiana reported a high temperature of 104°.

1980 -- A tornado hit the east side of Huntington, Indiana at 8:45pm.
