1998 -- 63 mph thunderstorm winds were reported at Michigan City...70 mph winds at North Manchester (Wabash County).

2010 -- Powerful Derecheo strikes the southern Great Lakes during the afternoon and evening hours of the 18th. Widespread wind damage reported from Omaha Nebraska to Toledo Ohio. 60 to as high as 90 mph winds occur over northern Indiana and southern Michigan. Measured wind gusts include 90 mph in Laporte, 79 mph in Benton Heights Michigan and at Three Rivers Airport and 74 mph at the South Bend Regional Airport. 1 person was killed from a fallen tree onto a car in Huntington.
