1865 -- A tornado unroofed the Saint Joseph Indiana county courthouse.

1953 -- New England's worst tornado hit Worcester, Massachusetts. It was up to a mile wide, tracked for 46 miles, killed 90 people, and dropped central Massachusetts debris into the Atlantic Ocean.

1972 -- The Rapid City South Dakota Flash Flood drowned 237 people.

1981 -- At 5:25pm a weak tornado hit Churubusco, Indiana. Twelve minutes later another twister hit Warren, Indiana.

1983 -- South Bend's latest first 80° temperature of the season, with a high of 81°.

1999 -- Streets flooded in Wabash up to a foot deep from heavy rain. Hail 2 inches in diameter pounded Van Wert County three miles east of Middle Point.

2008 -- A line of severe thunderstorms tracked through portions of northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. Wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph were common with the more intense line segments, which resulted in numerous reports of downed trees and power lines.
