1956 -- A tornado produced F4 damage across the northwest side of Marion, Indiana around 10pm. Nearly 400 homes were damaged and 45 were completely destroyed. Several schools were badly damaged. One woman was killed when her home was destroyed. Thirty-one people were hurt. The tornado did $1.5 million in damage along its three and a half mile long path and 45 yard width. A smaller tornado hit Cass County Indiana near Galveston and killed a woman when her home was destroyed.
