1877 -- A tornado killed one person when it hit a church at the start of services nine miles south of Marion.

1911 -- The first official weather observation was taken at the brand new Weather Bureau (now the National Weather Service) station in Fort Wayne at 7am, and was telegraphed to Washington DC.

2004 -- Thunderstorms swept through Northern Indiana producing 60-65 mph winds.
