1911 -- The first Weather Bureau (now National Weather Service) station at Fort Wayne opened. It was located on the ninth floor of the Shoaff Building.

1998 -- Three minimal tornadoes touched down in eastern Allen County, Indiana with a fourth in Huntington County and a fifth in Van Wert County. The only damage reported from the tornadoes was to an old barn and a garage near Scott, Ohio. One inch diameter hail fell on downtown Fort Wayne and in New Haven, Indiana. Severe flooding stranded motorists and floated cars on the south side of Fort Wayne.

1999 -- Large tornado outbreak in Oklahoma, including F4/F5 tornadoes in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
