Damaging Winds on West End of Lake McConaughy Saturday Night

Severe storms developed into western Nebraska late Saturday afternoon to produce numerous reports of large hail and damaging winds. The largest hail reported was baseball size, or 2 3/4 inches in diameter that fell near 7 miles south of Imperial. Wind damage did occur from near Lewellen and east to near Van's Lakeview camping area. Strong winds to over 75 mph produced several uprooted trees, overturned a center pivot irrigation center and destroyed a small storage building. A tornado report received was determined to have occurred further west into Morrill County, Nebraska. The map below shows the aerial wind damage reported. To view additional information on the large hail and winds review our Local Storm Reports.
