...AUGUST 2010 WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL FOR NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE...
...PRECIPITATION WAS NEAR NORMAL FOR NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE...  
 
A WARM AND HUMID WEATHER PATTERN PERSISTED ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH  
CENTRAL NEBRASKA DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST. TEMPERATURES WERE BELOW  
NORMAL AROUND THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH WITH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES  
DURING THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE MONTH. RIDGING ACROSS THE  
EASTERN HALF OF THE UNITED STATES...MIGRATED WEST BY THE MIDDLE OF  
THE MONTH. THIS MIGRATION IN THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE LED TO DRY  
CONDITIONS DURING THE LATTER HALF OF THE MONTH.  
 
FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST WAS  
87.9 DEGREES AND WAS 1.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 86.8 DEGREES.  
THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 60.5 DEGREES...AND WAS 2.1  
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 58.4 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN  
TEMPERATURE WAS 74.2 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.6 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL  
OF 72.6 DEGREES. NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET FOR THE MONTH  
IN NORTH PLATTE.  
 
FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 91.0 DEGREES  
AND WAS 4.1 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 86.9 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE  
DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 60.8 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 3.5 DEGREES ABOVE  
THE NORMAL OF 57.3 DEGREES. THE DAILY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 75.9  
DEGREES WHICH WAS 3.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 72.1 DEGREES. ONE  
DAILY RECORD LOW OCCURRED DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST. ON THE TWENTY  
FOURTH...THE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 41 DEGREES BREAKING THE PREVIOUS  
RECORD LOW OF 42 SET IN 1988...1972...1964...1928 AND 1915. ON THE  
TWENTY FIRST...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE HIT 103 DEGREES WHICH BROKE THE  
RECORD OF 102 DEGREES SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1973.  
 
PRECIPITATION FOR AUGUST TOTALED 2.35 INCHES AT LEE BIRD FIELD. THIS  
TOTAL WAS 0.20 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 2.15 INCHES. NO DAILY  
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH.  
 
AUGUST PRECIPITATION FOR VALENTINE TOTALED 2.01 INCHES AT MILLER  
FIELD. THIS AMOUNT WAS 0.19 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 2.20 INCHES. NO  
DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH.
