WET AND SLIGHTLY WARMER THAN NORMAL
FOR NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE
THE FIRST THREE WEEKS OF JUNE WERE DOMINATED BY A VERY ACTIVE
PATTERN AND MANY RAINY DAYS...WITH THE LAST WEEK TRANSITIONING TO A
RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE AND DRY CONDITIONS. THROUGH MOST OF THE MONTH
AN EAST-WEST BOUNDARY MEANDERED ACROSS NEBRASKA AND KANSAS. THIS
BOUNDARY COMBINED WITH A NEARLY DAILY OCCURRENCE FOR MID LEVEL
DISTURBANCES MOVING EAST ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS TO PRODUCE SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS. DURING THE SECOND WEEK OF JUNE A STRONG SOUTHERLY
FLOW ALLOWED TROPICAL GULF MOISTURE TO PUSH INTO THE REGION WITH
SEVERAL NIGHTS OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. THIS RAINFALL LEAD TO
FLOODING OF SEVERAL RIVERS AND CREEKS ACROSS THE STATE...WITH THE
MOST SIGNIFICANT...AND IN SOME AREAS...RECORD FLOODING OCCURRING
ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. WHILE NORTH PLATTE AND
VALENTINE DID RECORD ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION...THE OFFICIAL
REPORT WERE SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW OTHER REPORTS IN THE AREA. THE
HIGHEST REPORT FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COOPERATIVE
OBSERVER NETWORK INCLUDED 12.93 INCHES NEAR ERICSON...12.46 INCHES
IN TAYLOR AND 12.22 INCHES NEAR ELSMERE WITH 7.78 INCHES NEAR
HERSHEY AND 6.41 INCHES JUST SOUTH OF NORTH PLATTE. FOR A FULL LIST

DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH
TEMPERATURE WAS 81.9 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.7 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL
OF 82.6 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 57.1 DEGREES
WHICH WAS 2.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 44.5 DEGREES. THE MEAN
DAILY TEMPERATURE WAS 69.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.1 DEGREES BELOW THE
NORMAL OF 68.4 DEGREES. NO TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE
MONTH IN NORTH PLATTE.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 80.3 DEGREES
WHICH WAS 1.6 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 81.9 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE
DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 55.7 DEGREES WHICH WAS 2.5 DEGREES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 53.2 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE WAS
68.0 DEGREES WHICH WAS 0.4 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 67.6 DEGREES.

PRECIPITATION FOR JUNE TOTALED 4.99 INCHES AT LEE BIRD FIELD. THIS
TOTAL WAS 3.17 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 3.17 INCHES. NO
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH.

JUNE PRECIPITATION FOR VALENTINE MILLER FIELD TOTALED 3.91 INCHES
AND WAS 0.90 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 3.01 INCHES. NO
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH.

PRECIPITATION...WHILE THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IS 74.3 DEGREES.
AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE UPPER 80S WHILE
LOWS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE LOWER TO MID 70S.
