Storms again developed over portionf of western Nebraska in the late morning and early afternoon hours on Tuesday, August 9th.  A long-lived supercell thunderstorm developed over Keith county produced tennis ball size hail near Paxton.  This storm began producing funnel clouds near Paxton and west of Sutherland while other hail reports from this storm ranged from quarter to golf ball size.  This storm continued moving to the southeast and produced baseball size hail north of Hayes Center.  It did continue to produce severe weather well into the evening hours across Kansas over 6 hours after it formed.

Other storms developed across Perkins, Hayes, and Deuel counties between 3 pm and 4 pm CDT and produced hail up to golf ball size hail.  Some of the storms today were known to produce large amounts of hail with reports of hail up to 1 foot deep in Arthur.  The Nebraska Department of Roads used plows to clear roads north of Lake McConaughy as hail up to the size of quarters accumulated on the roads.

Continuing into the overnight hours, storms continued to develop over southwest Nebraska while a long-lived supercell over Wyoming moved into the southern panhandle.  These storms produced hail up to golf ball size and winds of 60 mph.
