2011 Kid's Discovery Day
October 15th, 2011

On Saturday, October 15th, 2011 - The National Weather Service in North Platte participated in Kid's Discovery Day again. This event was held at the Mid-Plains Community College Campus.

A hydrological theme was invoked for this year's National Weather Service booth, with many challenging and fun activities for over 1500 children who streamed through the booth during the course of the event.

The staff provided kids the insight to see water flow and impacts of flooding using the Ward's Stormwater Floodplain simulation model shown below, and an interactive game on flood knowledge for the kids to enjoy.

Special visitor's to the National Weather Service booth at Kid's Discover Day 2011 included Dora the Explorer, Kool-Aid Man and Herbie Husker!
