FOR NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE
...FOR VALENTINE...JANUARY 2012 WAS TENTH WARMEST JANUARY ON RECORD...

WARM CONDITIONS CONTINUED INTO JANUARY WITH TEMPERATURES WELL ABOVE
NORMAL ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA. PRECIPITATION AND
SNOWFALL WERE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE MONTH AS WELL.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR JANUARY
WAS 29.5 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 4.5 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 25.0
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 47.2 DEGREES AND WAS
8.3 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 38.9 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW
TEMPERATURE WAS 11.9 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 0.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE
NORMAL OF 11.1 DEGREES. TWO DAILY RECORD HIGHS OCCURRED IN JANUARY.
ON THE FIFTH...THE HIGH WAS 69 DEGREES...BREAKING THE RECORD OF 66
SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1935 AND 1927. ON THE THIRTIETH...THE HIGH WAS 68
DEGREES...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 66 SET IN 1890.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR JANUARY WAS
29.6 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 6.0 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 23.6
DEGREES. JANUARY 2012 WILL GO DOWN AS THE TENTH WARMEST ON RECORD.
THE AVERAGE DAILY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 44.3 DEGREES
WHICH WAS 7.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 36.5 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE
DAILY MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS 14.9 DEGREES WHICH WAS 4.2 DEGREES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 10.7 DEGREES. ONE RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS
SET FOR THE MONTH. ON THE FIFTH...THE HIGH IN VALENTINE REACHED 69
DEGREES...BREAKING THE RECORD OF 65 SET PREVIOUSLY IN 1930.

FOR PRECIPITATION IN JANUARY...NORTH PLATTE TOTALED 0.12 INCHES AT
LEE BIRD FIELD...WHICH WAS 0.22 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 0.34
INCHES. VALENTINE RECORDED 0.19 INCHES...WHICH WAS 0.07 INCHES BELOW
THE NORMAL OF 0.26 INCHES. NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET
FOR THE MONTH AT EITHER NORTH PLATTE OR VALENTINE.

NORTH PLATTE SNOWFALL FOR JANUARY TOTALED 2.2 INCHES...WHICH WAS 2.6
INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 4.8 INCHES. FOR VALENTINE...SNOWFALL FOR
THE MONTH TOTALED 0.9 INCHES AND WAS 2.9 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF
3.8 INCHES. NO DAILY SNOWFALL RECORDS WERE SET AT NORTH PLATTE OR
VALENTINE.
