MUCH ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND WELL BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION
OCCURRED DURING JUNE AT NORTH PLATTE AND VALENTINE
UNSEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES FROM EARLY SPRING HAVE CONTINUED 
INTO THE SUMMER MONTHS ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.
THE DRY CONDITIONS FROM MAY HAVE ALSO CONTINUED INTO
JUNE...CAUSING SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS TO DEVELOP OVER MUCH OF
WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR JUNE
WAS 75.3 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 7.4 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 67.9
DEGREES. THIS RANKS THIRD ALL TIME FOR THE WARMEST JUNE BEHIND
1933...77.0 DEGREES...AND 1931...75.5 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY
HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 92.0 DEGREES AND WAS A WHOPPING 10.2 DEGREES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 81.8 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE HIGH RANKS FIRST
FOR THE MONTH AHEAD OF 1933 (91.0 DEGREES) BY 1.0 DEGREES. THIS
IS ALSO 3.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURES
FOR JULY...WHICH IS NORMALLY THE WARMEST MONTH OF THE YEAR WITH
AN AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 88.2 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY
LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 58.5 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 4.5 DEGREES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 54.0 DEGREES. THREE DAILY RECORD HIGHS AND ONE
RECORD HIGHEST DAILY MINIMUM WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE IN

DEGREES. THIS RANKS AS THE FIFTH WARMEST JUNE ON RECORD. THE
AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 89.9 DEGREES
WHICH WAS A STAGGERING 8.8 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 81.8
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 59.1
DEGREES AND WAS 5.1 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 54.0. TWO RECORD
HIGHS WERE TIED DURING THE MONTH AT MILLER FIELD AND ARE

INCHES...MAKING JUNE 2012 TIED WITH 1985 AND 1922 AS THE SIXTH
DRIEST ON RECORD. NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET FOR THE
MONTH OF JUNE AT NORTH PLATTE. MAY AND JUNE ARE THE TYPICALLY THE
WETTEST TWO MONTHS WITH OVER ONE QUARTER OF THE YEARLY
TOTAL...6.70 INCHES FALLING DURING THAT PERIOD. IN 2012 A TOTAL
OF ONLY 1.61 INCHES WAS RECORDED IN THE TWO MONTH PERIOD...WHICH
WAS 5.09 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. THIS RANKS AS THE DRIEST MAY AND
JUNE ON RECORD...AHEAD OF 1897...WHICH RECORDED 1.83 INCHES.

VALENTINE PRECIPITATION TOTALED 1.72 INCHES FOR JUNE WHICH WAS
1.84 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.56 INCHES. NO DAILY
PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE IN VALENTINE.
THE MAY AND JUNE TOTAL FOR VALENTINE WAS 2.41 INCHES...WHICH RANKS
AS THE SIXTH DRIEST MAY AND JUNE ON RECORD. THE DRIEST OCCURRED IN
1918 WITH ONLY 1.71 INCHES RECORDED IN THE TWO MONTHS.

OTHER NOTABLE PRECIPITATION AND TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET
ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA DURING THE MONTH OF
JUNE. AT BROKEN BOW...ONLY 0.13 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED. JUNE IS NORMALLY THE WETTEST MONTH OF THE YEAR FOR
BROKEN BOW WITH AN AVERAGE OF 4.00 INCHES. 2012 WAS AN AMAZING
3.87 INCHES BELOW NORMAL...AND THE DRIEST JUNE ON RECORD. THIS
FOLLOWED A VERY DRY MAY WHICH ONLY RECORDED 0.70 INCHES...WHICH
WAS 3.20 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.90 INCHES. THE MAY AND JUNE
TOTAL WAS ONLY 0.83 INCHES...EASILY BECOMING THE DRIEST MAY AND
JUNE TOTAL ON RECORD AT BROKEN BOW. AT IMPERIAL...THE TEMPERATURE
SOARED TO 110 DEGREES ON JUNE 26. THIS BROKE THE DAILY RECORD OF
103 SET IN 1936. THIS ALSO BROKE THE ALL TIME DAILY HIGH RECORD
FOR JUNE BY 2 DEGREES. THE OLD RECORD WAS 108 DEGREES WHICH WAS
SET ON JUNE 14 2006 AND JUNE 29 1916.
