BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR NORTH PLATTE
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR VALENTINE
JULY 2013 BROUGHT MUCH COOLER TEMPERATURES COMPARED TO JULY OF  
2012. THIS JULY NORTH PLATTE ONLY MANAGED TO REACH OR SURPASS 100
DEGREES TWICE...WHILE VALENTINE NEVER REACHED 100 DEGREES. IN
2012 NORTH PLATTE ACCOMPLISHED THIS 14 TIMES...WHILE VALENTINE
HIT TRIPLE DIGITS 16 TIMES. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS GENERALLY
BROUGHT MORE PRECIPITATION THAN LAST YEAR...HOWEVER SOME AREAS
WERE STILL BELOW NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. DROUGHT CONDITIONS SAW
LITTLE CHANGE DURING THE MONTH EXCEPT FOR A SLIGHT
INTENSIFICATION ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA...WHICH HAD
SEEN THE LEAST AMOUNT OF RAINFALL OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTH.

FOR NORTH PLATTE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE FOR JULY
WAS 74.1 DEGREES...AND WAS 0.2 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 74.3
DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 87.8 DEGREES AND
WAS 0.4 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 88.2 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE
DAILY LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 60.4 DEGREES...WHICH WAS EQUAL TO THE
NORMAL VALUE. THERE WERE THREE TEMPERATURE RECORDS SET DURING THE
MONTH. ON JULY 2ND THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO 44
DEGREES...SETTING A NEW RECORD LOW FOR THE DATE...BREAKING THE
OLD RECORD OF 48 SET IN 1997...1992...1877...AND 1876. ON JULY 27
AND JULY 28...THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE ONLY 65 AND 66
DEGREES...RESPECTIVELY. THESE WERE NEW LOW MAXIMUMS RECORDS. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD FOR JULY 27 WAS 68 DEGREES SET IN 1881...AND 67
DEGREES SET IN 1928 FOR JULY 28.

FOR VALENTINE...THE AVERAGE DAILY MEAN TEMPERATURE WAS 74.2
DEGREES...AND WAS 0.3 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 74.5 DEGREES.
THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 86.6 DEGREES...WHICH WAS
2.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 88.7 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY
LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 61.7 DEGREES...WHICH WAS 1.3 DEGREES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 60.4 DEGREES. ONE DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET
DURING THE MONTH. ON JULY 12TH THE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 73
DEGREES...BREAKING THE 1955 RECORD OF 72 DEGREES FOR HIGHEST
DAILY MINIMUM.

PRECIPITATION AT LEE BIRD FIELD IN NORTH PLATTE TOTALED 2.74
INCHES...WHICH WAS 0.33 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.07 INCHES.
NO DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF JULY
FOR NORTH PLATTE. PRECIPITATION AT MILLER FIELD IN VALENTINE
TOTALED 3.78 INCHES FOR THE MONTH OF JULY...WHICH WAS 0.57 INCHES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 3.56 INCHES. ONE PRECIPITATION RECORD WAS SET
DURING THE MONTH OF JULY FOR MILLER FIELD. ON JULY 30...A
THUNDERSTORM RESULTED IN 2.18 INCHES...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF
1.15 INCHES SET IN 1915.
