Hot with Storms Possible Today

Cooler Weather Arrives Beginning Friday

It will be hot again today with highs in the mid and upper 90s. It could reach 100 degrees in a few places. The hot weather will lead to scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening, mainly along and east of Highway 83, where it will be more humid. Some of the storms could be severe with the primary threat being very large hail and damaging winds. A cold front will then cross the region tonight and in its wake cooler weather will arrive for the weekend. Highs on Friday will be in the mid to upper 80s across western and north central Nebraska, but Saturday and Sunday will see highs only in the lower 80s, which will actually be a few degrees below normal for the middle of August.

With the threat of severe weather, be sure to listen to radio, television, and NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio for possible watches, warnings, and statements. Click here to reach the severe weather web page for western and north central Nebraska, which will also display the latest watches and warnings.
