First Measurable Snowfall of the Season

An upper level disturbance brought the first measurable snow of the season to parts of southwest and west central Nebraska.  Most of this snow occurred along and to the south of Interstate 80.

The greatest snowfall accumulation occurred in Chase County, where a Cooperative Weather Observer from Imperial measured 6 inches of  new snow.  Other reports included 5.5 inches of snow just 3 miles west of Enders, with 4.5 inches of snowfall recorded at a location 8 miles southwest of Madrid, in Perkins county.

Below are some of the local storm reports garnered after this event, along with a visible satellite image depicting the area of snow across southwestern Nebraska, and a National Snow Analysis showing the snow precipitation.
