A double shot of winter weather is expected Sunday night through Tuesday.
For areas of northern Nebraska, including the following counties:
Sheridan-Cherry-Keya Paha-Boyd-Brown-Rock-Holt-Grant-Hooker-Thomas-Blaine
The first shot of winter weather is expected as a storm system lifts moist air up over a front. The snow is expected across northern Nebraska Sunday and Sunday night with the heaviest snow along and north of highway 20. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches can be expected by early Monday.
As the snow tapers off in north central Nebraska...Another storm system coming across the central plains will bring additional accumulations Monday night and Tuesday. By the time it all ends...Snow fall totals of 5 to 7 inches are likely for the period from Sunday night through Tuesday.
For areas of southwestern and central nebraska, including the following counties:
Garden-Loup-Garfield-Wheeler-Arthur-McPherson-Logan-Custer-Deuel-Keith-Perkins-Lincoln-Chase-Hayes-Frontier
An opening shot of snowfall is expected Sunday night and Monday as a storm system crosses the central plains. Snowfall for that period will range from slightly under an inch in the extreme southwest near Imperial to nearly three inches north of Stapleton and Tryon.
The second shot is expected to produce heavier snow in central through southwest Nebraska as another system taps moisture from the gulf of Mexico. Additional snowfall of 4 to 8 inches can be expected with the heaviest in south central Nebraska near Curtis and Eustis. Totals for both shots will be 7 to 9 inches.
