National Weather Service Honors 
Newport Observer Lloyd Larson
with a 10 Year Length-of-Service Award

On July 15th, 2014 - Observing Program Leader Steve Carmel, of the National Weather Service office in North Platte - presented a 10 Year Length-of-Service Award, to Lloyd Larson of Newport.

At 800 AM CDT each morning, Lloyd Larson records the maximum, minimum, and at observation temperatures - along with measurements of precipitation, snowfall and snow depth, at his location in Newport, in Rock County. He began taking observations as a voluntary Cooperative Weather Observer, on September 19th, 2003. 


Lloyd Larsen is known for his wood working and craftsmanship.
