March 18th North Platte Tornadoes - Revisited

As a large upper trough of low pressure moved onto the Central Plains Sunday morning, March 18th, 2012 - it helped to produce a swath of severe weather over parts of western and north central Nebraska on Sunday evening, March 18th.

An associated Pacific cold front moved through the area overnight.  A convergent axis was formed from southwestern into west central Nebraska, helping to provide focus and lift for the severe thunderstorms and tornadoes which occurred.
