Western & North Central Nebraska Inundated by Heavy Rain
Storm Total Precipitation Estimates from KLNX Dopper Radar
(Storm Total Precipitation Estimates from KLNX Dopper Radar depicted in image above)

Some parts of western and north central Nebraska picked up several inches of rainfall, as showers and thunderstorms impacted the region on Monday and Monday night.  Portions of western Lincoln and eastern Keith counties were particularly hard hit, with a report of 7.25 inches of rainfall 3 miles west southwest of Hershey. A reported 6.24 inches of rainfall occurred 2 miles southwest of Sutherland. The heavy rainfall caused flash flooding and washed out several county roads in western Lincoln and eastern Keith counties, and flooded a truck stop parking lot located in Hershey. Highway 30 was closed just west of Sutherland during the evening of June 20th, with water and debris reported flowing over State Highway 30 near Sutherland.

There were several other areas with heavy rainfall amounts, which was due to a strong moisture laden low pressure system that moved slowly across the area.

Below are some of the preliminary storm reports and rainfall amounts as garnered by the National Weather Service in North Platte.  Please note that the animations below may take a while to load, dependent on your bandwidth.
