Prolific Rains Impact Western Nebraska Again
Flooding Concerns as Rain Continues
Upstream Reservoir Releases to Continue

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WHICH MOVED OUT OF COLORADO AND KANSAS ON
SUNDAY EVENING...EVENTUALLY TRANSITED ACROSS WESTERN NEBRASKA.
THESE STORMS PRODUCED SOME PRODIGIOUS RAINFALL AMOUNTS - INCLUDING A
3.50 INCH REPORT 15 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF HAYES CENTER...3.17
INCHES WAS RECORDED 21 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF ELSIE IN HAYES
COUNTY...3.15 INCHES WHICH FELL AT THE IMPERIAL AIRPORT...AND 3.09
INCHES OF RAINFALL IN THE PAST 24 HOURS WAS REPORTED BY THE
COOPERATIVE WEATHER OBSERVER IN IMPERIAL. THIS HEAVY RAINFALL DID
CAUSE SOME FLASH FLOODING WITH STINKING WATER CREEK IN HAMLET...WHICH
HAD OVERFLOWED THE BANKS INTO ADJACENT FARM FIELDS.

FLOOD WARNINGS CONTINUE OVER A LARGE PART OF THE PLATTE RIVER BASIN.
PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN ABOVE NORMAL SINCE LAST OCTOBER...
ACROSS BOTH THE NORTH AND SOUTH PLATTE RIVER BASINS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL BE PRODUCED BY AN EXPECTED SERIES OF
THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS. THIS WILL EXACERBATE ANY
FLOODING ISSUES AND CONCERNS - AND THOSE LIVING ALONG THE NORTH AND
SOUTH PLATTE RIVER BASINS AND NEARBY TRIBUTARIES SHOULD KEEP A
DISCERNING EYE ON WATER LEVELS AND RAINFALL - AS ADDITIONAL
FLOODING IS POSSIBLE.
