June 18-19 Severe Weather Overview and Reports

A strong upper level disturbance, combined with a stationary front, high humidity, and warm temperatures led to rapid development of thunderstorms across southwest Nebraska and northeast Colorado Wednesday evening, June 19th, 2014. Thunderstorms expanded in coverage after dark, with several of the storms becoming severe. Damage to farm buildings and uprooted trees were reported, along with quarter to golf ball size hail. Heavy rain was also observed, with substantial street flooding reported in and around North Platte. Flooding was also reported in the Arnold area. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches were common from North Platte, northeast through the Arnold area.
