Severe Weather Outbreak April 14th, 2012 - Recap

A trifecta of weather conditions combined to produce a severe weather outbreak across the southern and central Plains states on Saturday, April 14th, 2012.

A strong upper level low pressure system across the Rockies, helped to lift a warm front across Nebraska.  Thunderstorms initiated along a dryline over southern Nebraska and western Kansas by late Saturday afternoon.  Several weak tornadoes and funnel clouds developed over Lincoln County, including near North Platte.  Large hail also fell with the stronger storms, producing hail up to the size of tennis balls.  Heavy rains produced widespread street flooding over parts of North Platte on Saturday evening.  Later Saturday evening, the majority of strong storms progressed northeast into portions of Logan, Custer, Blaine, Loup and Rock Counties.
