Observed:
Actual temperature or precipitation data for a particular calendar day.
Normal:
Average temperature or precipitation which typically occurs on a particular calendar day. Normals are based on 30 years of data spanning the years 1971-2000.
Record:
Greatest amount of precipitation, or highest or lowest temperature recorded on a calendar day on an entire climate record for a particular location. Temperature records can be broken down further:
 
Record high temperature - Highest temperature recorded on a particular date.
 
Record low temperature - Lowest temperature recorded on a particular date.
 
Record low maximum temperature - Lowest maximum temperature recorded on a particular date.
 
Record high minimum temperature - Highest minimum temperature recorded on a particular date.
