A survey of the damage in Perry and Breckinridge Counties from severe storms during the evening of May 8th has been completed by NWS officials. Below are some photos from the damage survey, followed by the official report.

COUNTY INDIANA AND NORTHERN BRECKENRIDGE COUNTY KENTUCKY...
A STORM SURVEY PERFORMED TODAY BY A NWS FORECASTER REVEALED TWO 
TORNADO PATHS WITHIN THE NWS LOUISVILLE COUNTY WARNING AREA. THE TWO
DAMAGE PATHS ARE RELATED TO THE SAME SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHICH
EXHIBITED SUPERCELL CHARACTERISTICS ON THURSDAY EVENING, MAY 8,
2003.

ESTIMATED MAXIMUM WINDS: 112 MPH
ESTIMATED TIME: TORNADO FORMED IN PERRY COUNTY INDIANA AROUND 745 PM 
EST. DURATION WAS ABOUT 6 MINUTES.
EVENT LOCATION: TORNADO FORMED 5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GERALD 
INDIANA...ABOUT 1/2 MILE NORTHWEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF GERALD
ROAD AND DEER CREEK ROAD. TORNADO PATH ENDED NEAR DEER CREEK ABOUT 2
MILES NORTH OF INDIANA STATE RD 66 IN THE HOOSIER NATIONAL FOREST.
PATH LENGTH: 3 MILES
PATH WIDTH: 100 YARDS
NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES REPORTED
DAMAGE: NUMEROUS ADULT TREES UPROOTED (SPRUCE/PINE/PECAN/HICKORY). A 
LARGE TREE ON TOP OF A MOBILE HOME WHICH WAS KNOCKED OVER. EXTENSIVE
PROPERTY DAMAGE TO A LARGE HOMESTEAD NEAR INTERSECTION OF GERALD
ROAD AND DEER CREEK ROAD INCLUDED LEVELING SEVERAL SMALL
OUTBUILDINGS. PART OF A LARGE BARN DEMOLISHED. TIN ROOF OF LARGE
BARN WAS CURLED INTO TREES NEARBY. A PIECE OF PORCH FROM A LARGE,
SOLID FOUNDATION HOUSE THROWN 1/4 MILE INTO NEARBY POND. THE SEAM
BETWEEN THE ROOF AND WALLS OF A CEMENT FOUNDATION BARN WAS
SEPARATED.

EVENT LOCATION: TORNADO WAS A BRIEF TOUCHDOWN OF THE SAME 
CIRCULATION THAT CAUSED THE TORNADO TOUCHDOWN IN SOUTHERN PERRY
COUNTY INDIANA. LOCATION WAS 3/4 MILE EAST OF THE OHIO RIVER ON KY
STATE ROAD 144, 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF STEPHENSPORT, NEAR BULL CREEK.
PATH LENGTH: 1 MILE
PATH WIDTH: 50 YARDS
NO INJURIES OR FATALITIES.
DAMAGE: TORNADO OCCURRED IN FORESTED AND SPARSELY POPULATED AREA 
NEAR THE OHIO RIVER BANK. A FEW SHALLOW ROOTED TREES UPROOTED.
NUMEROUS TREES TOPPED AND BRANCHES SNAPPED.
