Date: Jan 30, 2013

Begin time:  3:38am CST
End time:  3:41am CST

Begin point:  1.3 miles south of Oakland
End point:  0.8 miles east-southeast of Smiths Grove

EF Scale: EF-2
Wind Speed: 120-125mph

Path length:  3.3 miles
Path width:  250 yards

Narrative: Four grain bins were scattered over a quarter mile, with some debris thrown up to a half mile away.  Fencing with 8" posts was torn down.  A semi truck was flipped as the tornado crossed Interstate 65.  Towards the end of the path a barn was destroyed and a 100 by 300 foot well-built metal outbuilding was destroyed.

The National Weather Service is grateful to Warren County Emergency Management and WBKO's Chris Allen for their assistance with our storm damage assessment. Also, the NWS would like to thank Geoff Hale and Curt Rausch, Kentuckiana Volunteer Aviators, for their aerial damage survey assistance. Geoff and Curt flew over the damage path and were able to confirm that no additional damage occurred from what was observed from the ground survey.
