Indiana Winter Weather Preparedness Week November 13-19, 2011

Kentucky Winter Weather Awareness Week November 14-18, 2011

Be Aware. Be Prepared. Have a Plan!

Governors Steve Beshear of Kentucky and Mitch Daniels of Indiana have proclaimed this the week for residents to prepare for and be aware of the potential hazards of Winter Weather.

Protecting yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of weather should be a continuous effort for everyone living in the Kentucky and Indiana, regardless of the season.  Many weather-related injuries and fatalities could be avoided by just maintaining good situation awareness.  In other words, pay attention to the weather and know what may be coming your way.

When seasons change, though, it's important to not just be aware of impending weather of the next few hours or days, but to prepare for the potential hazards heading your way over the next several months as well.

So whether you live north or south of the Ohio River, this is the week to get yourself ready for winter - through both Awareness  and Preparedness.  To help you out, National Weather Service (NWS) offices throughout Indiana and Kentucky will have vital winter weather information posted in the "Top News" section of their websites this week.  This web page will also serve as a link to information for answering your questions about what to do when the snow flies and the mercury plummets.
