Have a NOAA Weather Radio with a warning alarm tone in order to receive severe weather information. If NOAA Weather Radio is not available, designate someone to monitor local radio and television.
Classrooms with windows and outside walls are dangerous due to the possibility the wall may collapse and because of the presence of books, pencils, furniture, and other objects which can become dangerous when picked up by high winds.
Teachers should be instructed to shut doors after everyone has left the classroom. Do not open windows in the classroom; time is better spent taking shelter.
