Flood Warnings are issued as needed when flooding is expected to
occur more than 6 hours after the heavy rainfall, or to
continue a Flash Flood Warning that has already been in progress
for 6 hours, with ongoing flooding problems in the warned
area. Locations in the Flood Warning will still need to take
the necessary action to protect lives and property and seek higher
ground until higher waters recede. Flood Warnings will be issued for single
counties, or for small groups of counties, and will be followed up
with Flood Statements.
