Local Storm Reports relay severe reports of significant events
(tornadoes, hail, heavy rainfall, flooding, damaging wind, etc.)
to the media, emergency management and adjacent NWS offices.
Local Storm Reports provide documentation of severe weather events
and are typically issued as the reports are received in near
real-time. Often, reports continue to be issued even days
after an event as new information becomes available.
Local Storm Reports include...
- the type of severe weather phenomena,
- the date and time of occurrence,
- the location of the event, including state, county, and
direction and distance (in statute miles) from a town or city,
- the source of report,
- any damage, deaths, and/or injuries (if any), and
- any other useful information.
