WSR-88D Reflectivity Data Displayed on an AWIPS Workstation This image shows WSR-88D base reflectivity data displayed on an AWIPS workstation graphical monitor.  AWIPS ingests all radar data products from NWS Louisville's WSR-88D Doppler radar. In addition, certain products from neighboring WSR-88D radars ingest automatically into AWIPS, while other radar products can be requested for display on the workstations. Overlays can be placed on the data in AWIPS, if desired. AWIPS is now the primary vehicle used for display and analysis of all radar data, and is much more versatile in this regard than the WSR-88D PUP.  AWIPS also is used to compose and disseminate severe weather warnings and statements.
