AWIPS Display: Graphics Screen Showing Data from the D2D Graphical Program This image shows a close-up of  the "Display 2-Dimensions (D2D)" program, i.e., the graphical user interface (GUI) that is used on each AWIPS graphical monitor.  The image shows the default layout for each screen, including 1 large viewing window and 4 small windows, all of which can display and loop different data at the same time. Data in the large window pane can be interchanged (swapped) with data in a small pane very easily. In this image, model forecast data is shown in the large window, while other model data, radar, surface, and sounding data are shown in the small panes. A similar display is available on the second graphical monitor, allowing forecasters to view a large amount of data at the same time. An alternate screen layout (not shown) consists of 1 relatively large window (but smaller than the large one at left) and 2 relatively smaller windows (but larger than the 4 small ones at left).
