NOAA All Hazards Weather Radio station KXI41 serves portions of the north and northwest suburbs, which includes Lake County and surrounding areas, from a 300 Watt transmitter in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The nominal effective range of the transmitter is about 40 miles. Continuous 24 hour programming is provided from the National Weather Service Chicago Forecast Office, located southwest of Chicago in Romeoville Illinois.
